Another method I have seen successfully used in these situations is to grout or caulk the saw cuts a contrasting color to further draw your eyes away from the imperfections. In addition, color highlighting and antiquing methods (stains, tints, color washes and tinted sealers) will provide additional camouflage to hide some of the poorly finished areas.
